12 Days of Techmas, Day 7
Link to Highlights
Pretend you want to share a link with someone, like a friend, a class, or just remember it for yourself. The easiest way is to highlight the URL, copy it, and paste it somewhere, like in an email, Google Classroom, whatever. But that URL links to the top of the page, which might not be what you want. You'd rather link to the important part.
Like trying to find the actual instructions in a recipe blog post

Good news! Google recently added the ability for you to create links to parts of a website that you highlight yourself!
Example: My class is learning about how to say "Merry Christmas" in different languages. I found a link that shows information about Christmas in the Philippines, but not all of the page is relevant. I want to direct my students to the paragraph on "Merry Christmas" translations.
Click this link to see what I did: https://www.whychristmas.com/ cultures/philippines.shtml#:~: text=The%20Philippines%20has, lots%20more%20languages
I highlighted what was important and shared a link directly to it! And it was SO easy!
Step 1. Find some text on a website. Click and highlight the text.

Step 2. Right-click the highlighted text and choose "Copy link to highlight." (On a Chromebook, you can also Alt-click instead.)
Step 3. There is no Step 3. You're already done and can paste the link somewhere! So instead of a screenshot, Step 3 is just a gif of a baby owl, because why not?
Or rather "Whooo not?" Sorry, I'll show myself out.
Wait! Before you go!I was teasing before about only nine school days left, but seriously, I know this is a challenging month in a super-challenging year. Hang in there, support each other, and let me know if I can do anything to help you get through to the 23rd! You got this!
