You can upload your class roster into Gizmos using the steps below.  You need to pull the class data from Aspen into a CSV file and then put that data into a CSV file in the format that Gizmos needs.  Below is a screenshot of the of the sample import data file from Gizmos.  Your data must match this format in order to upload it to Gizmos. NOTE: StudentID = SASID

Follow these steps to create your upload file:

  1. Use Aspen Quick Report to created a CSV file of your class list.  You only need to be sure to include the First Name, Last Name, SASID and Grade Level.  Be sure you are saving the Report output as a CSV file.  The CSV file will be saved to your computer;

  2. Upload the CSV file to your Google Drive and open the File with Google Sheets.

  3. Now you can CHANGE the column headings and column order in your Google Sheet to match the columns needed by Gizmos. You should delete any extraneous columns you may have saved from Aspen.  You can have columns with empty data, for example the Language column can be empty. The only required columns are FirstName, LastName, StudentID and GradeLevel.

  4. Once you have the data formated in your Google Sheet correctly, you need to go to the File menu and use the Download > Comma Separated Values (.csv) file. Be sure to name the downloaded file something that you will recognize to when you need to find it for uploading.

  5. The file will be saved to your computer.  You can then go to the Class Management window of Gizmos and upload the data file.  If you get an error message it is likely that your file format is not correct.
